India’s official COVID cases are rising. What about unofficial figures?

Yesterday, the nation witnessed close to 1.69 lakh coronavirus cases. Day before yesterday the number stood at 1.57 lakh cases. Reports suggest that India surpasses Brazil as world’s second worst-hit COVID country. The total number of cases stand at 1,35,27,717. There are 12,01,009 active cases in the country at present while 1,21,56,529 people have recovered from the disease. The death toll figures 1,70,179.

Meanwhile, coronavirus cases are also rising in the states where election rallies are being held in full pace.  West Bengal reported 27,981 new coronavirus cases and 71 fatalities since April 1. In Assam,  352 more people tested positive for the infection pushing the tally to  2,20,310.

These are just official figures. We yet don’t know about the unofficial figures. For example, a cremation zone in Madhya Pradesh faced shortage of woods since flow of dead bodies was humongous. In Ahmedabad, nearly all the hospitals are flooded with infected patients. Doctors in Delhi’s AIIMS and Lucknow’s KGMU tested positive. Now, just for a second, think about the unofficial covid figures which aren’t reaching our ears or eyes; credit to the media for doing duties in an air conditioned office.

Night curfew isn’t the solution:

When traffic is really low and shops, malls, offices, government transport is shut then how can COVID surge in this scenario. We need restrictions during the day and money should be punched in the pockets of the poor. Yes, lockdown isn’t a solution, but we need stringent laws so people take precautions– be it out of fear. Another thing is, cinema halls should be completely shut for the moment. If not, then may be then can operate at a 25 per cent capacity. Offices that operate out of internet must be completely asked to work from home. Where such scenario does not prevail, an alternate day might be the solution. All the governments should sit down for a conference that includes economic experts and then chalk out a amicable solution because it’s not going to fade away soon from what appears to be. Think about the figures not reported and the scenario would be even more petrifying.

Besides all this, new strain of coronavirus is rapidly increasing. We yet don’t know how deep the damage can dive. Stay safe and take precaution.
